I was spanked as a child.
Whack! It was normal then. I never gave it much thought.
Does that mean I hit my kids today as needed to keep them in line? No. Never laid a hand on them in punishment. Ever.
I can think up a heck of a lot of ways to mete out effective punishment without resorting to anything corporal. And I’m not talking about that timeout bullhockey.
I’m not telling you what to do and how you should or shouldn’t punish your kids. I don’t know you. I don’t know your children. How you decide to handle and raise them is all on you. But I can tell you this much, though:
If you can’t think of ways to discipline your children without hitting them, take a wild guess what the chances are you’ll be raising humans who try to solve problems by hitting, not thinking.
